Registros
Registros was an exhibition project created by Banana Contemporary for Galería L, aimed at activating the gallery’s living memory through the review, reinterpretation, and circulation of both new works and pieces from storage by the artists who have been part of its history. The name of the project refers to the idea of “registering” as an act of permanence, a gesture that preserves the trace of the ephemeral and allows artistic dialogues to be reactivated from new perspectives and contexts.
The concept of “registro” also alluded to its musical dimension: a set of tones within the same instrument that create different ranges. From this perspective, Registros functioned as a living, open curatorial project that brought together multiple voices, styles, and temporalities, proposing a bridge between past and present to broaden the possibilities for circulation and interpretation of the works.
This project emerged in the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic, when the closure of cultural spaces required the creation of strategies to sustain the relationship between contemporary art and its audiences. Registros was thus consolidated as a platform that, through both physical and digital exhibitions, strengthened the connection between artists, community, and collectors, reaffirming Galería L’s role as an active, flexible, and constantly evolving space.
