Eduardo Cifuentes
Eduardo Cifuentes is a Colombian poet, stage director, dancer, and playwright. He completed his Bachelor of Performing Arts at the Departmental Institute of Fine Arts in Cali in 2018. He further expanded his artistic training with a focus on contemporary dance at El Colegio del Cuerpo in Cartagena de Indias (eCdC), where he earned a Technical Degree in Dance Performance in 2015. He is currently the co-director of Movimiento en Colectivo (MEC).
MEC is a research and creation group that generates spaces for critical reflection on the body through the performing arts, fostering interdisciplinary exchanges between artists. Through its artistic processes, MEC expresses a distinctive vision of society, addressing themes such as homosexuality, personal relationships, domestic violence, gender, and identity.
With his company, Cifuentes has participated in numerous events and festivals, including Encuentro Endanzante (2017, 2018, 2020), Fiesta de las Artes Escénicas de Medellín (2019, 2023), the 45th Anniversary of Casa de Teatro (Dominican Republic, 2019), Festival Internacional de Teatro de Cali (2018, 2019, 2020, 2024), Festival de Teatro Alternativo de Bogotá (2018, 2020), Festival Brújula al Sur (2018, 2019, 2020, 2024), Sala Estrecha Programming (Pereira, 2019 and 2023), Festival de Danza Contemporánea Cuerpo Raíz (2018), Teatro La Concha Permanent Program (Cali), Festival Santiago Off (Santiago de Chile, 2022), Festival Internacional de Teatro San Juan de Pasto (2023), Teatro Julio Mario Santo Domingo Programming (May 2023), and Festival Danza en la Ciudad (Bogotá), among others.
