Mirel Fraga

Mirel Fraga is a visual artist, designer, and independent editor who has developed much of her career in Oaxaca City, Mexico. She currently works from her home studio, focusing on multidisciplinary projects rooted in painting and printmaking. She is the co-founder of Polvoh Press Oaxaca, an independent publishing house through which she has participated in events such as Printed Matter Los Angeles Art Book Fair, Paperworks CDMX, Jardín Oaxaca, Festival Rayón, Zona Maco, Material Art Fair, Feria Gráfica de Oaxaca, and Oaxaca Múltiple, among others.

In 2019, she received the Acquisition Award in the Graphic Arts category at the 1ª Bienal de Artes Biodiversidad de México. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows across Mexico and the United States, as well as internationally.

Through Polvoh Press, Mirel has published her own artist books, including Cosmic Landscape, Wild Wisdom, Analogous Life, We Are Nature, Offering, Corn – Food Sovereignty and Local Consumption, Inner Cosmos, Refuge, and Totem – Flora, Fauna and Fungi in Danger of Extinction, as well as numerous collective publications highlighting the graphic work of women artists.

Her artistic practice is grounded in exploring the meaning of life and humanity’s connection with the natural world. Drawing inspiration from flora, fauna, the invisible, and the cosmos, Mirel approaches her work as a spiritual and artistic journey toward inner peace, reverence for nature, and collective consciousness.
